Heavy-rain warning for both parts of Uttar Pradesh
The India Meteorological Department’s subdivision-wise warning lists heavy rain for both East Uttar Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh on September 6. East Uttar Pradesh remains under a heavy-rain warning on September 7 and September 8 as well, while the warning for West Uttar Pradesh eases after today under the current forecast.
Delhi and Uttarakhand are also affected
IMD has also listed heavy rain for Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi today. Uttarakhand faces a broader combination of heavy rain, thunderstorms and lightning. Similar unsettled conditions are expected across several northern, central and northeastern parts of the country.
What residents should keep in mind
Rainfall can vary significantly within the same state, so a subdivision-level warning does not mean every district will receive the same amount of rain. Intense local showers can still cause waterlogging, traffic disruption, poor visibility and temporary flooding in low-lying areas. District forecasts and short-term nowcasts are therefore more useful for immediate travel decisions.
What happens next
Under the current IMD warning, East Uttar Pradesh remains the area to watch for continued heavy rain into September 7 and 8. Forecasts can change, so residents should check updated IMD bulletins before long-distance travel or outdoor plans.
