A major new AI infrastructure project
A Tata Consultancy Services subsidiary and its partners plan to invest up to ₹700 billion, roughly $7.4 billion, in a large artificial-intelligence data center campus in Telangana. HyperVault has secured about 264 acres in Hyderabad for the proposed facility, which could eventually reach 1 gigawatt of capacity.
Built for high-density computing
The campus is being designed around the heavy computing requirements of modern AI systems, including GPU clusters used for training and running large models. Development is expected to take place in phases based on customer demand rather than bringing the full capacity online at once.
Why Telangana and India benefit
AI infrastructure is becoming a strategic asset as companies seek local access to computing power, low-latency networks and reliable energy. A campus of this scale could deepen Hyderabad’s technology ecosystem and strengthen India’s ability to host both domestic and global AI workloads.
The infrastructure challenge
Large data centers also place major demands on electricity, cooling systems, transmission networks and water. TCS has said the project is intended to incorporate green-energy and water-neutral design principles. How those plans are implemented will be important as the campus expands.
